The holiday season is shining brightly this weekend with a forecast of snow (fabricated, that is) and thunder (fireworks).
Rockets on red is back. The Riverside Festival kicks off the holiday season on the shores of Bossier City and Shreveport de la Rouge. The festivities begin at 4 p.m. Saturday with live music and food trucks. The spectacular fireworks display begins at nightfall.
If you need a snow solution, consult the Boardwalk blizzard. This happens every weekend from Black Friday through January 2.
The Snow Show – not real snow but foam that looks like snow) takes place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. from November 27 to January 2. The Blizzard Boardwalk is located near the dancing fountain. There will be 10 to 12 snowmobiles scattered around the main entrance near the parking garage. The machines run for about 5-7 minutes each time.
And then there is the Sno-Port with “The Snow Factory” at Sci-Port. Nanite gnomes live, work, play, and love to make snow. Sno-Port transforms one of Sci-Port’s galleries into a science-themed winter playground on snow and ice that features twelve different stations for different ages.
Customers can expect to learn how snow and snowflakes are made in an interactive, educational and visually stimulating environment comprised of fake snow, stalactites, stalagmites, ice caves, an icicle forest and even more.
Sno-Port is an entrance fee separate from the general admission ticket.
Sno-Port is open Wednesday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., from November 26 to February 27.

What’s new and red, green, pink, orange and blue? It is Holi-dazed! at the Robinson Film Center in downtown Shreveport. This unique holiday pop-up installation and special event concept will transform Abby Singer’s Bistro at Robinson Film Center into an array of sights, sounds, smells and tastes for the holiday season from November 26 to January 8. .
Designed by Downtown Shreveport Unlimited / Mudbug Madness, C&C Mercantile and Lighting and Apex Communications and Events, this special event will feature hundreds of multi-colored beams of lights as well as oversized holiday props and accessories created by Derek Simmons and Lauren Ross Simmons. by C&C Mercantile et Éclairage.
RFC Chef Tootie Morrison has created a specialty menu of craft cocktails and delicious appetizers that include some of the holiday favorites. Holi-dazed is the perfect complement to cocktails! aperitifs.
