“Hopefully we can step into a ‘new now’ next year and get back to the job that we love and manage so successfully.
“I can assure you that I, the IELA Board of Directors and the Secretariat look forward to further developing projects and delivering the value we all need to overcome the pandemic with new ideas, new tools and new platforms for the new era. ”
the The sessions of the 36th IELA Congress, which took place online from June 29 to July 1, 2021, followed the theme of the association’s “Back to business” program and took the perspective of a “spirit of beginner ”, with on-demand access to all sessions and additional content extended until July 31.
Elizabeth Niehaus, Executive Director of IELA, explained that the main theme was chosen because of the need to change the “old” perspective and identify new territories with curiosity. “With that in mind,” she said, “the online format gives our members areas and topics to explore for insight, foresight, and to learn to set course and reshape our future.”
IELA President Guido added, “A beginner’s mind is the only state of mind we need to face the new now. This means that we have to adapt and be more efficient. Congress, he said, “will accompany all IELA members in building new perspectives, new avenues to reinvent themselves, thus exploiting new business opportunities.”
The Congress registered 348 delegates from 48 countries over the three days and included regional discussions with constructive conversations focused on lessons learned for 2020-2021, the impact of the pandemic on SMEs as a key profile of exhibitor but also as a global driver of economic recovery and the community needs a connected foresight in the event and exhibition industry.
The IELA Awards were also organized on the last day and the following people were elected “IELA FACES” in recognition of their work for the association:
