The Warriors take on the Celtics in a critical Sunday night game, trailing 1-0 in the NBA Finals after losing Thursday night at Chase Center. The NBA revealed the officials for Game 2 on Sunday morning.
Veteran official Zach Zarba will be the team manager for tonight’s game, with Tony Brothers (referee) and Josh Tiven (referee) completing the team on the field. Marc Davis will handle the proofreading center.
The Warriors are 49-39 overall in games officiated by Zarba and 51-61 in games officiated by Brothers, whose career dates back to the 1994-95 season. They are 23-18 in Tiven games.
They lost both games refereed by Zarba in the playoffs, although one was the blowout 39-point loss to the Grizzlies in the second round. The other was Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals when Golden State failed to eliminate the Mavericks in Dallas.
Zarba is working on his ninth final. Brothers and Tiven are working their 11th and third respectively.
Officiating in Game 1 was not a major storyline as the Warriors crumbled early in the fourth quarter, blowing a 12-point lead and losing 120-108 even while holding Jayson Tatum to 12 points on 3 shots out of 17.
The group of officials for the series includes: Brothers (11th final), James Capers (11th final), Davis (11th final), Kane Fitzgerald (4th final), Scott Foster (15th final), John Goble (6th final), David Guthrie (5th final), Courtney Kirkland (2nd final), Eric Lewis (4th final), Tiven (3rd final), James Williams (2nd final) and Zarba (9th final).
