HATFIELD TWP — The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office announced an investigation into a shooting involving an officer in Hatfield that took place Friday morning.
The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. Friday when Hatfield Township police received a call from a resident reporting that a man had run into his garden and was hiding in the yard of his neighbor, the office of the prosecutor. said friday afternoon.
“Hatfield Police responded and located the man between two piles of wood. Initial investigation indicates that police ordered the man to come out and show his hands, and the man did not comply. “The prosecutor’s office said in a statement. “He was tazed and then ran towards the police who shot and beat the man.
Police immediately provided assistance to the man, who was then taken to Grandview Hospital and was undergoing surgery just before 1 p.m. Friday, the prosecutor’s office said. No further information was provided about the man, other than an age of 29, or about the police involved or the location of the incident.
“In accordance with protocol for shootings involving officers in the county, Montgomery County detectives responded to the scene to investigate the shooting. The names of the man involved and the police involved are not being released at this time,” the prosecutor’s office said.
