Mangaluru: The state government will organize a one-day workshop for elected representatives of urban and rural local communities in Dakshina Kannada district, to provide information on various social protection programs, social protection of backward classes and social services of the listed tribes, in Bantara. Bhavana in Bantwal on Monday.
Minister of Welfare and Backward Classes Kota Shrinivas Poojari told media here on Friday that the workshop will be jointly organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Administration, the Zilla Panchayat and the Welfare Department of listed tribes (ST).
The government has offered to organize such workshops in all districts of Karnataka, he said, adding that a workshop will also be held in Udupi district.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment A Narayanaswamy, Minister of Transport and Welfare ST B Sriramulu, Minister of Fisheries S Angara, MP by Dakshina Kannada Nalin Kumar Kateel and Bantwal MP Rajesh U Naik will be the guests at the Bantwal program.
The morning session includes an information session after the inauguration, followed by an interactive program in the afternoon session, Poojari said, and urged all elected officials of the urban and rural local bodies of the district to attend the workshop.
